Oaxaca
is a state in southeastern Mexico, populated by a number
of Indian sects. Dr. Worland founded Medford Surgical Missions as
a nonprofit
medical service organization, to provide charitable medical
care for the people of this region. Each year for 20 years, Dr. Worland
has
led a Medford-based team of medical doctors and nurses to
perform reconstructive surgery, mostly for indigent children. This
team is
one of two, the other being based in Seattle, which regularly
provides service to this area. Dr. Worland frequently brings other
surgeons
from around America and Europe to assist in these surgical
procedures. Through Medford Surgical Missions, Dr. Worland is able
to cover all
expenses for each member of the team.
Dr. Worland has recently added China, Venezuela, and the Dominican Republic
as destinations for humanitarian surgical care.
