The most common forms of skin cancer are
basal cell and squamous cell carcinoma. Dr. Worland shares an office building
with three dermatologists who do the routine cancer excisions. However, when
the cancers are larger or involve vital areas such as eyelids, nose, lips
or ears, these patients are often referred to Dr. Worland for appropriate
excision and reconstruction. Many operations are performed on an outpatient
basis at one of the hospitals or the ambulatory surgery center, where microscopic
evaluation of the tumor can be performed at the time of the surgery. Dr. Worland
is also referred the majority of malignant melanoma patients.
